Quantum Vault Terms of Service
Service Agreement for Quantum Vault users and customers
Last updated: 2026-06-15
By selecting Accept, installing, or using Quantum Vault (the "App"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1) Scope and Acceptance
These Terms govern your use of Quantum Vault, including free and paid features. You represent that you are legally able to accept these Terms in your jurisdiction.
2) What Quantum Vault Is
Quantum Vault is a local-first security app designed to protect files and secrets on your device using strong encryption and hardware-bound controls where available.
References in the App, website, or marketing to terms such as "Quantum Safe," "Quantum Proof," "Post-Quantum," or similar are product descriptors of design intent and current cryptographic posture. They are not a promise of absolute, perpetual, or future-proof immunity against all present or future attacks.
The App is built with a no-server architecture:
No user account is required.
No vault content is uploaded to our servers.
No passphrase, recovery phrase, or private vault key is sent to us.
3) Free and Paid Features
Quantum Vault may include:
Core features available at no charge.
Optional paid or "Pro" features available by purchase.
We reserve the right, at any time and in our sole discretion, to:
Offer features for free, paid, trial, or promotional access.
Change, add, limit, or remove any feature tier.
Change pricing for future purchases.
Discontinue part or all of the App.
Any purchases are processed by third-party app stores/payment providers under their own terms.
4) Privacy and Data Handling
We do not run a backend service for vault operations and do not intentionally collect your vault content.
Refer to our privacy policy: Quant Vault Privacy Policy
4.1 No Analytics by Default
Quantum Vault is designed not to transmit analytics, usage telemetry, or personal vault data to us.
4.2 Local Control
Your encrypted files, secrets, recovery phrase, and passphrase handling are under your control on your device and any storage location you choose.
4.3 No Custody of Credentials
We do not possess your passphrase, recovery phrase, or decrypted vault keys. Because of this, we cannot reset, recover, or unlock your vault for you.
5) User Responsibility (Critical)
You are solely responsible for:
Securing your device and system lock screen.
Protecting your passphrase and 24-word recovery phrase.
Verifying backups before device reset, uninstall, or migration.
Managing imported/exported files and external storage choices.
If you lose your passphrase and recovery phrase, your vault data may become permanently inaccessible.
6) Recovery, Backup, and Deletion Risk
The App may provide backup, restore, adoption, and secure deletion workflows. You acknowledge:
Backup integrity depends on your own storage and handling.
Restore requires correct recovery material controlled by you.
Secure deletion can be limited by operating system and storage-provider behavior outside our control.
Uninstalling the App, clearing app data, or deleting storage paths may remove access to your encrypted vault files.
6.1 Irreversible Loss Events (No Developer Recovery)
You expressly acknowledge and agree that permanent loss of access may occur if you, your device, or your environment causes any of the following, including but not limited to:
Uninstalling the App.
Clearing app data/cache or factory-resetting the device.
Deleting, moving, or corrupting the vault folder or vault files.
Losing, forgetting, or misrecording your passphrase and/or 24-word recovery phrase.
Device theft, damage, hardware failure, or storage corruption.
Because Quantum Vault is local-first and we do not hold your keys, passphrase, or recovery phrase, we have no technical ability to restore access for these events.
6.2 Assumption of Risk for Data Availability
You assume full responsibility for backup discipline, storage choices, and credential custody. To the maximum extent permitted by law, developers and distributors are not responsible for data loss, inaccessibility, or corruption resulting from user actions, omissions, device state, operating system behavior, or third-party storage/share providers.
7) Security Disclosures
Quantum Vault is designed for high privacy and strong cryptography, but no software can guarantee absolute security in all environments. Security can be reduced by, for example:
Rooted/jailbroken devices.
Compromised operating systems, malware, or hostile firmware.
Weak passphrases or exposed recovery phrase backups.
Third-party app/share/storage behavior outside Quantum Vault.
7.1 Post-Quantum Terminology and Limits
The App may use post-quantum cryptographic components (including ML-KEM based mechanisms) together with classical cryptographic primitives. You acknowledge that cryptographic standards, implementations, and threat models may evolve, and that no claim of "quantum-safe" or "quantum-proof" constitutes a guarantee against all future advances in cryptanalysis, implementation bugs, side-channel attacks, or platform vulnerabilities.
7.2 Hardware Security Dependency
Hardware-backed protections (including StrongBox/TEE binding and related security-chip functionality) are dependent on device model, OEM implementation, operating system version, and runtime availability. On unsupported or degraded environments (including emulators, rooted devices, or devices without StrongBox), equivalent hardware assurances may not be available, and security posture may be reduced.
8) Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Use the App in violation of applicable law.
Reverse engineer, tamper with, or misuse the App to bypass security controls.
Distribute malicious content through App workflows.
9) Third-Party Components and Platforms
The App may rely on Android APIs, OEM security hardware, app stores, and open-source libraries. Their availability, correctness, and behavior are outside our direct control and may affect App functionality.
10) No Warranty
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, compatibility with all devices, or error-free performance.
11) Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPERS, PUBLISHERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR LICENSORS OF QUANTUM VAULT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF ACCESS, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE APP.
THIS LIMITATION APPLIES TO ALL USERS, INCLUDING PAID/PRO USERS.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the minimum amount permitted by applicable law.
12) Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the developers and distributors of Quantum Vault from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from:
Your misuse of the App.
Your violation of these Terms.
Your violation of applicable law or third-party rights.
13) Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated versions become effective when published in-app or with the App release. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
14) Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the applicable jurisdiction where the App publisher is established, excluding conflict-of-law rules. You agree that disputes will be resolved in courts of competent jurisdiction as permitted by law.
15) Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision is found unenforceable, remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms form the entire agreement between you and the App provider regarding use of Quantum Vault.
16) Acknowledgment
BY SELECTING ACCEPT, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT:
QUANTUM VAULT OPERATES WITHOUT SERVER-SIDE CUSTODY OF YOUR KEYS OR DATA.
YOU ARE THE SOLE CUSTODIAN OF YOUR PASSPHRASE AND RECOVERY PHRASE.
LOSS OF CREDENTIALS, DEVICE RESET/UNINSTALL, OR VAULT-FOLDER DELETION CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT DATA INACCESSIBILITY.
DEVELOPERS CANNOT RECOVER ACCESS WHEN KEYS/PASSPHRASE/RECOVERY MATERIAL ARE LOST OR USER STORAGE IS DELETED.
YOU ACCEPT THESE TERMS, INCLUDING THE WARRANTY DISCLAIMER AND LIABILITY LIMITATIONS
